K2 Theme Help

Good Day,

Is there anyone here tried to use K2 Theme in wordpress? I'm using a K2 theme for my wordpress site, but its difficult for me to put the google analytics because I don't know where to put it on. I try to install a google analytics plugin but I think its not effective. I also look on the code of my website, but I can't identify where to add the google analytics code.

I hope someone here can help me.

Hi Ervin, go to "Appearance > editor" and locate the file named footer.php

Open that file and place your Google analytics script there, just before the closing body tag, then save the file.

*Its advised that you make a backup copy of the footer.php file prior to editing it, in case you do something wrong. The best way to do this is to download a copy of the footer.php file via FTP. That way if something goes wrong and you cannot access the file via the WordPress file editor, you can just overwrite your edited file with your local backup copy.

The code above is the only code on my footer.php, that is why I can't add my google analytics code because there is no body tag.

The reference to the closing body tag is just a point of reference. Its ok to place it at the end of the file you've referenced above. Just make sure that its enclosed in script tags like so:

<script type="text/javascript">...Your Analytics Code Here</script>
PS: As an aside, If your page is written with an HTML5 doctype - <!DOCTYPE html>, you can omit the type="text/javascript" part...

  Yes, it will be hidden so it does not really matter where it is located as long as its not in the head section. When placed in the head section, it has the potential to freeze the page if there is a network issue loading the script from google's servers. Placing it in the footer area allows the page's visual elements to load without waiting on the non visual scripting elements.
