Capturing Emails on a WP Blog

Hey guys,

Had a quick question. I'm hoping some of you may have some knowledge on this. I am getting a new blog set up today in the "Save Money" niche. Not going to get too specific because it's going to cover all aspects and hopefully turn into an Authority blog for the niche.

Do you guys see how on this website, they have the opt-in form on the side: magnifiquebeautytherapy.com

That opt in form is a little larger than mine will be. I will have a simple, two line opt-in form.

What I'm asking is, would it be ok for me to briefly go over the benefits of joining my email list or newsletter, or whatever it is best to be called, at the end of each post? By briefly I mean two or three sentences in an article of 400-600 words.

Would that affect the ranking of the posts?

The blog will be promoting CPA offers. If I hyperlink to an offer at the end of a post, would that affect rankings?

I'm just trying to make sure that I'm approaching this right, because I plan on monetizing this blog with SEO and a little bit of PPC until I get there.

TL;DR

I have a new blog. It will be a content based authority blog used to promote CPA offers. I will drive traffic with the blog via SEO in the long run and PPC until I get there. I will also have a small opt-in form on the website.

Would it affect the ranking of the posts if I briefly went over the benefits of joining my email list at the end of each post, just to draw attention to it and let them know what they'll get? (Briefly = two or three sentences in a 400-600 word post.)

Would it affect the ranking of the posts if I hyperlinked a CPA offer at the end of each post with a call to action? Even if it has nothing to do with the post, but I know the readers would be interested in it?

I'm just trying to make sure I have everything figured out before I jump into SEO. It can get a bit overwhelming if you don't.

Thanks in advance,
JaVaun T

I doubt it would affect any SEO stuff. Especially if you use graphics instead of text.

Of course. Just make sure you are focused on helping them save money and not making money in your own pocket.

Would that affect the ranking of the posts?
    No.

No. But don't do this. It's not a good way to help people. Your focus should be to give away great free info. Not to get them into CPA crap that has no value.

I would do your best to connect with them using personal "true" stories about how you used the CPA offer you are recommending. This will make it more authentic at least.

I have done what you are trying to do already (to some extent).

If you would like a site to model after.

Feel free to check out my save money "wannabe" authority site.

This project is on the back-burner. But I did do a lot of things right with it.

I don't think it will affect the post ranking possibilities at all. I actually recommend it if the posts are solid content and valuable to the reader asking for an opt-in is a great thing and allows them to get more good solid valuable info.

However, it could hurt your chances of getting your post syndicated as folks wouldn't put your post on their site as it asks for an opt-in and may drive their readership away.

But for your own readers do it. If you do post on other sites or guest blog on other sites a signature line at the bottom leading them back to your blog would suffice.

    Ok thanks you all.

I was just wondering. Would it affect the post if it was the same "brief description" at the end of each post? Would google consider that duplicate content?

I'm not planning on copy/pasting the same thing, but in case I run out of ways to describe the benefits, I will end up going back to the first one. This is why I asked.

    Thanks,
    Jay

No its not duplicate content. To be considered duplicate content your article would need to be less than 60% unique (super conservative in the age of Panda & Penguin). The little blurb at the end would not "tip the balance".
