Hi, don't know if it would upset Google in a direct sense but it would certainly harm your overall seo rating to have a lot of outwards links which at the end of the day means you are going to get penalised. Jim

you should have a good mix, linking out to other sites shows more then you think to google, and can effect its overall ranking for seo reasons... like everything in life keep things in moderation!

SEO is not my main area of expertise but I know a bit about it and to my knowledge, this should not upset Google at all. In fact, your site can be penalized if your links are do-follow and your site is linking to spammy site or sites that google doesn't like. No-follow links can protect your site from this and is usually recommended for sites where you can have links to sites you don't really know.

To answer your specific question ("on" your site, not "to" your site)...no, IMO, this should not penalize your site.

Google's algorithms are private, but I think there are a lot of other factors that are much more important to Google, and I would be surprised if this is a factor (or much of a factor).

Although I haven't tested it specifically, I have sites that rank well that have all or mostly no-follow outbound links.

You should no-follow your sponsored links. This is where a large effect will be. Links to more informative content will not do the damage but obvious affiliate links will. Google wants to reward good content and penalize bad - a simple product link is seen as bad whereas a link to more content is good.

Thinking about the end user in this sense will help you make a gut decision on what to do without over thinking the process.

No follow blogs is useless, it never makes back links for the website, I always give more preference to dofollow blogs as compare to no ollow blogs and the most important think that dofollow should be on high page rank.

Agreed with Rankx. It's ok to have lots of nofollow (google bots will just ignore this) instead of lots of outwards link to suspicious site. This will definitely get you penalized.

Although in seo do-follow has a its own importance over no-follow but still i will say creating only do-follow for your website can also upset google and that finally penalized your site.

Thanks for your replies, I was thinking of making my affiliate links and some contra ads no follow. Maybe even some of the image credits as well to Creative Commons.
