Favicons for Wordpress

Well, after battling to successfully install a favicon on WP, I've done it.

Using All in one Favicon plugin, it was only displaying on the browser tab, but not in the address bar.

After mucking around, I decided to delete the plugin, upload my 16x16 favicon.ico file into the site's root directory (public_html/) and also drop a copy into wp-content, wp-admin and the other main wp folders.

I manually inserted the following code into the header.php file through th e Dashboard, just after the opening <head> tag.

<link href="http://www.sitename.com/favicon.ico" rel="icon" type="image/x-icon" />
<link href="http://www.sitename.com/favicon.ico" rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" />

(both are identical except that one says "icon" and the other says "shortcut icon".

It may be overkill, but it's working in I.E. anyway. Still only shows on tab in FF and Chrome though, even after clearing the cache.

Anyone know how to fix that? Cheers.

    Chrome is moving away from favicons next to the URL, and leaving that zone for security updates... the Favicons should be seen in the tabs on both FireFox and Chrome, firefox dev a ton of concepts for google, so they may have taken this on as well...
