Hi,
I've been trying out programs for days and I can't seem to find a good online project management program.

Here are my requirements and if anyone can make a suggestion I'd really appreciate it:

1) The ability for clients to email a request that would be come a task for me to do.
2) The ability to have time tracking for these tasks.
3) The ability to have subtasks.

I've sorted through a lot of possible programs, so PLEASE don't reply with "try this" or "try that". I don't want to start another thread that's a list of programs. But if you HAVE used a program that meets these requirements, I'd really like to hear about it.

Thank you!

Not sure if this hits all of your priorities, but I run agile/scrum dev teams and l use pivotaltracker.com for them -- it's a god send! It's specifically created for software development teams - and perfect for agile development cycles.

Technically you could tie into their API to allow people to "email" in tickets (l think one of my teams set this up a few days ago for one of our properties).

I am developing one website on school .I am using ASP .Net and MS -Sql for back end purpose .Asp .net provide a strong three tire architecture that provide a strong client server architecture . The reference library is easy to add and consists of many inbuilt functionality which make coding much easier .

Here are two that I have had some contact with. You may want to read the feature list to make sure they can do exactly what you are looking for:

    teamworkpm.net/
    5pmweb.com/

I can't post links yet, so you will need to copy and past the info from above. If they don't work, put a www in front of them.

    Good Luck

I have used 5PMweb.com, but found it very annoying after a short period of time. It seemed very clumsy to get around in and I ending up closing my account with them.

But you should still have a look at it yourself. It might just be me and the way I like to work and your style / preferences may be complete different.

    Are you familiar with Basecamp?
If not, Basecamp is the leading web-based project management and collaboration tool. To-dos, files, messages, schedules, and milestones.

I think all your requirements are doable in Basecamp.

    Hope it helps.

Thanks. But how do you work without subtasks? If a web project is 5 phases (consultation, initial planning, coding, approval, publish) for example, how can that be arranged in Basecamp? Is each phase a separate to-do list?

Also, with Basecamp can a client email a task (e.g "please make this change to my website") and have it posted on the project for me as a task"?
        Thank you!

Not sure exactly what features you are needing, but we did an even combination of web and print/ad design at my previous job and did a lot of research before choosing a solution.

We went through a lot of the mentioned products here and ultimately chose
Workgroups from MetaCommunications because of it's proofing features and it's scheduling/workflow features and it worked out great for us. I specifically know they have great tools for proofing webpages, etc. and great DAM features if those are things you're looking for.

There is a tool out there that does all three things that you require. It is called Gemini, you can find out about it/take a free trial at geminiplatform.com, and it boasts a host of features that no other tool in this space has.

    Hi,

In my experience trying to manage all of these through different applications can be a serious hassle. Data becomes spread out, integration hassles can be frustrating, and it decentralizes collaboration. I'd suggest something that consolidates these properly into one web app. My favorite is WORK[etc], it combines projects with task lists, time tracking, sub-tasks, and billing/contact management. There's project views such as gantt charts, project trees, and real time activity streams. It also syncs with Google Apps and Gmail.

This could help you manage all of your data in one place, and even collaborate with clients using their customer portal. Google them if you're interested!

You can use ProofHub (Project Management Software, Online Collaboration Tool - ProofHub), a web based project management software. In it for time tracking there is timesheets. You can also create to-do lists to decide what all tasks that are to be done.

Trust me, I had used several PM tools for all my client projects, but there are only couple of great tools:

    Redmine

For time tracking and for adding sub tasks you can use a web based project management software like proofhub as it is very easy to use and light on pocket. I being a freelancer use it myself to make my tasks hassle free.

We use Livetecs for time tracking and billing for project management. It seems like a lot of apps, but I’ve found that the specialized apps tend work better than what you get with a packaged deal.
