WEB DESIGN

I launched my first website last month and I want some feedback on how to improve the design for SEO. When I created the current design I was new to SEO so I made a lot of rookie mistakes. I am currently planning out a revamped design to deal with some issues that my current design has.

Keep in my the version that is uploaded is NOT finished. Thanks in advance for checking it out!

  I agree, those colors work well together.
  
  But SEO is not about visuals, but about scoring well in search engines.
  your URL looks good too, so you might score well for that keyword.
  But for more I suggest you learn a bit about SEO, because that's a lot
  of little things which you need to do, like
  include keyword in URL -- check!
  ...

Excellent design - I love it!

However, I highly recommend you change the page title.

"Home" is not a valuable keyword. I suggest that you change it to something like "Find Cheaper Insurance".

Yes very polished looking site.
I would consider trying to move the orange "login" button to the topmost line, it seems to breakout the continuity of the page a bit.

And as mentioned by others, obviously you need to tweak the keywords/page titles for SEO purposes.

  On clicking the link, it took 9 seconds to load. Since this hard drive I have now, is brand new and just recently (4 days ago) been put into my computer, I can't say I have any programs or otherwise that will slow the loading of the website for me...not from my computer in any case. I do use firefox version 15.0.1 so maybe your site might be optimized for Internet Explorer or something else?
  
  Yout title currently is 'Home?' Perhaps a keyword or something other used instead of home.
  
  No meta description as far as I can see. No meta keywords, and currently your headings for H1 to H6 tags on your Home page are as follow:
  
  <H3>: Shop,Compare Save on Car Insurance!
  <H3>: Need Help?
  <H3>: Call Me!
  <H3>: Insurance Tips and Info
  <H3>: Social Feed
  
  Eleven images were found and 10 ALT attributes are empty or missing.
  
  There is no XML sitemap and no robots.txt for your site either. You do have google analytics, so that is good. But there is no associated Feeds or Favicon either.
  
  There is feeds associated with the individual articles. But not for the 'Home' Page. Like your one article has a good keyword density for a number of words. The word 'insurance' being at 2.42% density. So it's great and you get approval and extra points for that. The word 'house insurance' has 2.60% density and is present in the Title and in the Description.
  
  Obviously the gray boxes for the pictures need to be filled with pictures.
  
  Make sure you set up your page for the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Some people are naturally freaked about how their details are used. So always make sure you set their minds at ease.
  
  Overall I love the colour scheme and how clean it looks. Great and simple design. Nothing too complicated. But perhaps if your aim is to get the reader to do 'something?' Then focus on what exactly it is you want them to do. Articles can be on a separate page as your main index page should give the person relevant info on what they should do or steps they should take. So if they need to sign up, subscribe etc. That should be your focus on your main page.

  Thanks for the feedback everyone. This is our first site and we are working very hard at getting traffic to it. We should have Phase two out in the next few days which will address some of the issues we're having.

Not sure if I'm the only one but I'm really not a fan of the site as is. Its not clear to me what your website is about. Obviously it states that it can find cheap insurance, as it says in the title but how about a little explanation on what it is you do.

For example:
- Do you compare the insurance market in CA?
- How do you compare the market?
- Why should a customer use your site - what's the USP

There are a few established insurance comparison sites here in the UK. I suggest taking a look at them to gather some ideas. Comparethemarket, moneysupermarket.

However I'm being critical - I do think its a good attempt to start with but like some of the others have said on this forum there are a number of things that can be done to improve the site.

Put yourself in the customers shoes and then work from there.
