Looking For Abandoned WordPress Plugins

I am looking for plugins that have been abandoned, that I can adopt. I would prefer to have the original author submitting so I can push updates from the repository, but if you know any plugins that you wish was updated and supported, say it here, or at WPrecycle where its easier for me to organize. Look forward to reviving abandoned plugins!

Cheers,

Jones

You mean I should "submit" a free, open source plugin to you so that after updating you could sell it to me?

Why would I? I can pay a coder $100 and have the plugin upgraded/updated... and then I could sell it, as well.

NO, we are NOT selling the plugin, if the plugin is free in the repository, it will remain FREE! We are not looking to fork plugins to make a buck.

    1. We will update and support plugins that allow us to be a author. Meaning we need the authors consent, and access to the plugin in the repository. This is the right thing to do, otherwise we would have to fork everything, and there would be duplicates in the repository, which also depreciates WP, so we don't want to do that, we want it to be the original plugin.
    2. If the plugin is free, it will remain FREE in the repository!
    3. The author of the original plugin still gets recognition of being the founder of the plugin. (some rebranding maybe done, if the plugin doesn't have branding at all, name and all will always be the same)

But in order to keep these plugins from going back to being eventually abandoned, and or out of date and not supported, there has to be some sort of incentive for us/developers to invest time in the upkeep of some of the plugins. Having a network or a group collectively working on abandoned plugins would pose a huge threat of creating the same problem the repository currently has, of plugins being neglected because the lack of incentive and time for developers.

The plugins will be free, but depending on the plugin, support, and/or ad ons will be the way we fund the project. The issue of abandoned plugins is not a easy one to fix. 1 in 3 plugins haven't been updated in over 2 years, not all those are technically abandoned, but a lot obviously are, and at least out dated, so this is a genuine attempt to help clear out as many abandoned plugins as possible.
