wordpress website question

I have a question hopefully someone can help me out with.

A year ago I bought a domain and started building a website. I got it built and looking the way I wanted and it was finished but unfortunately life got in the way and I was not able to promote it.

Fast forward almost a year, I get an email saying my domain is up for renewal so I go to namecheap and renew it. Then I go directly to the admin login of the site and start redesigning it by switching themes and deleting pages and writing draft posts for new articles. I get to the point where I am changing background and other small appearance details like that so I decide to put the actual domain of the site in the URL box to see what IM working with so far. unfortunately I was greeted with a white screen that had this message:

Page not found

The page you are looking for might have been removed,
had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Please try the following: If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.
- Click the Back button in your browser to try another link.
- Use a search engine like Google to look for information on the Internet.
HTTP 404 - File not found

Now here is the weird part. I go to google and type in the domain and of course not only does listings with my site pop up but links to pages within my website as well. When I click on a listing to the main URL, I get the same error message. However, when I click on a google listing to one of the other pages on my site, the page loads flawlessly.

I have tried clicking on the "HOME" part of the menue once I am in one of the pages and and then routed to the exact same error message. I have tried a few things to try and narrow down the problem (keep in mind I am not a HTML, website or wordpress professional by any means and should probably be treated as a complete noob)

I have first of all tried entering the domain in the URL bar with and without the www. in front and this made no difference.

I have tried loading the website in my smart phone using the regular domain name in the URL box as well as with the www. in front of it. I also went down the the library and tried it with my smartphone from a different IP and got the same result.

I tried changing themes back and forth between about 3-4 different ones to see if this had any effect which it did not.

I am not sure what other basics to check. I would think if it was something wrong with my hosting account, none of my pages would work. not just the hompage.

I am more than happy to hear any ideas you may have to help me start problem shooting this issue.

Thank you so very much in advance!

It's almost impossible to tell you what to look for. If you want to PM me the domain name you're having trouble with, I'll take a quick look for you.

You said that you have changed the themes and still nothing so your problem is your wordpress installation.Check your wp-config.php file for errors or even reinstall your wordpress.
