Is it possible to make a website by html only ?

I am a blogger. At first I started blogging in blogspot. Then I switched to WordPress. I found that html learning is necessary for editing blogger templates. I want to learn html. I want to know if it is possible to design a website or template by html only? At first I want to design templates for blogger.
Will html only be okay to design such blogspot templates ?
Which free sites will be good to learn html ?
Does any other language is needed with html ?

    Yes, people make websites using HTML - actually, that's the only way to do it.
    Even with the content management systems (CMS, like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal etc.) the final output is always HTML. HTML is the basis for everything.

      w3schools is also my first choice.
      And I would like to suggest you to think about CSS.. because it is important too If you are serious than html and css will not take much time to understand. these are very easy and simple.

    It is possible, but I don't think it makes much sense to code an only html website. HTML is old and can't do much. Unless you are aiming to learn HTML I would go for some kind of CMS system to get started. My first website was clean HTML, but it was in the 1990's ;-)

    Save yourself sometime and stress and just stick with WP...Learn just enough of html and CSS to get the designs that you want.

    If you want a theme that can give you the ability to customize the design and CSS without to many file errors in WP check out the Thesis Theme...

    Checkout TeamTreeHouse too if you wana learn CSS and html.

    in making any theme html/css is the base if you make a wordpress theme it will be

    PSD >> html/css >> wordpress integration

    if you use any script it will be

    PSD >> html/css >> your script integration

    overall its really the base of theme making so I disagree with stick with wordpress?? stick with this script?? nah thats wrong

      Hi Are you talking about making PSD templates and then implementing HTML in that ? that means PSD to html. I love to work in Photoshop. I have done a lot of work on it. How Photoshop and html works together ? Please reply. thanks.

    If your website is PURE html it will be very boring and simple...
    If you want a professional looking website you need to know HTML And CSS .

    To be honest with you you just need to know the basics. Get a free template online and edit it using dreamweaver to suit your needs. No need to design from scratch

    To theme a site, you need to know 3 different language. PHP, HTML and CSS.

    It isn't possible to build a webpage without using HTML even stuff like Wordpress use HTML to build its WebPages In fact the its templates are built with HTML and CSS and then the PHP code uses sections of the HTML to build the requested page So it inserts a head section that is taken from a section of HTML code. Also the same thing for the content section and the sidebars and footers.

    So it won't hurt you to learn HTML it will always be a valuable thing to know as long as you plan to work with webpages. You should ignore people who tell you that you don't need to learn it just because they don't know it.

    Yes, you can make a website in html using dreamweaver. But one thing to be aware of is that if you go from html site over to Wordpress or if you start with a wordpress site and then change to just html, you may lose your SEO ranking. It has happened to me a few times even if the content is the same. Once I had a html page and went to Wordpress to make creating pages faster. But that caused me to go from 75 hits a day from Google to just 1-2 hits a day. Even with All-In-One-SEO Plugin. I quickly cancelled Wordpress and put it back as only html, but was never able to get indexed like I had before. I would recommend whatever you start out as, keep using that method for the website.
