Dear Warriors ,

As I am learning wordpress and develpoing a wordpress website . I am new to wordpress. For my new website I like to add a search form with custom fields to search different pages , post , by selecting them through dropdown .

Like I am adding lots of content to this website and I want my visitors to find the post through search query

I want to add this type of search form to my website . pls see the attachment.

Pls suggest a plugin for it .

There is lot of plugins are there, Contact Form 7 and search for Questioning Plugins , Gravity Forms

Contact Form 7 would be the easiest option for you, or even Custom Contact Forms or cForms. They all allow you to modify fields easily.

I think Contact form 7 is for sending information through email, while I am looking for a search plugin , where the visitor can search my website after selecting different options.
Pls see attachment.

Am I missing something?

I have made this for a lot of sites. What I do is create taxonomies and assign it to that particular post type, and then create a select dropdown pulling the terms of that taxonomy. It's a little complex to do, but you can get some help by using this plugin >> WordPress › Taxonomy Widget « WordPress Plugins

Create widget areas, and simply drag the widget and select the taxonomy name. It will automatically pull the terms and sort the posts as well.

No this is not what I am looking for. I want my visitors can search by selecting different options like attachment shows.
Also I want to add this search form to one of page not in side bar

If you are not satisfied with already written plugins then you can write a custom search query based upon your search form fields. read this page WordPress › Support » Customising search query

Thanks for your suggestion , I am not technically fit to create a custom plugin. I am looking for a readymade solution.

Well first of all, search what ? Posts ? Custom Post Type ?

You have to either create taxonomies or custom fields to sort them out, either of the two, there is no "automatic" solution to what you want to do.
