Hi,

Hope your all well.

Im looking for a bit of help. Im trying to get boxes on to the website homepage that will automatically update with a snippet and a small picture of either new blog posts or new pages and to be able to customise the colours, layout etc of - like the ones on netmums. At the moment im doing this manually using the WYSIWYG Widget on WordPress.

Im not too bothered about it automatically updating, im just trying to get rid of the WYSIWYG Widgets as I dont think google likes all of this code?

Anyone got any idea's how I can do this?

Thanks.

As far as the updating posts box, the answer could go is several directions, so it would be faster to know your theme, or better your live site url.
As far as customizing the colors and more, that's done with the css stylesheet. If you want to see where or what the style is that needs to be changed, you can use something like firebug addon for firefox, or built-in developer tools in chrome.
What your trying to accomplish can certainly be done, but need to figure out what your working with first.

This is built right into Genesis.

Go to "Appearance" > "Widgets" and you'll see 2 widgets on the left that do exactly what you asked.

        "Genesis Featured Page"
        Displays featured page with thumbnails

        and....

        "Genesis Featured Posts"
        Displays featured posts with thumbnails

Drag these widgets (and adjust settings after drag) into the appropriate widget/sidebar area where you want them to display.
