Pros and Cons of Using Same Platform for Site Hosting and Domain Name Registration

I want to build a new blog. I made enquiries and some told me that it is not safe(security wise) to host my site and register a domain name with the same platform. That is better to purchase a domain seprately, then host on another platform while pointing my domain name to them. Whats you take on this. Please advice me. Thanks!

    Hi,
    In 2006, i had an issue with 1and1 where i registered domain names and hosting. My account was blocked and the issue was never resolved. All my domain names and hosting were trapped. It was a very bad year. I had to register alternative domain names at godaddy.

    That singular experience made me to decide never to use same company. Since then i have been registering domain names with either godaddy or namecheap and then host somewhere else.

    Hope i made some sense to you.
