I have 2 sites on one host. justhost incase you need to know. I have a website script i purchased for the primary site. It has a .htaccess file in the file it has

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^$ app/webroot/ [L]
RewriteRule (.*) app/webroot/$1 [L]
</IfModule>
If this is removed I can go to the second domain name since it is in public_html/FOLDERXXX/ which then makes the primary domain not work at properly using cakephp scripting. This script was purchsed and im getting no help from the guy who developed the site. I also own few other sites on multiple hosts I am interested in transfering here. Anyone know the code to put into the htaccess file to make it so the other sites i have will work? Appreciate any help provided. Thank You

  • Jburdick,

    A couple of things here. First, the .htaccess file only applies to the directories and sub-directories within which it is placed. So for example if you had a directory called “folder” and in that director were several other directories, if you placed a .htaccess file in the folder directory, it would apply to that directory and all directories contained in the folder directory.

    So I’m not following how your .htaccess file is affecting another domain since these are separate within your host (or at least they should be). Is there another configuration file applied to the other domain?

    If both your websites are in the same directory but one is in a sub directory of the other, try adding your other domain name to your host and then moving the files over. That way the .htaccess file will not apply to both websites.

    Here is a tutorial on .htaccess,
