Creating an authority based site split by category

I have a site that is split into multiple sections based on category. It has a similar feel to this site: Business Accounting | Inc.com

You can see on inc.com that they have a navbar at the top and if you click Finance, for example, you get a list of articles based on their Finance category.

What is the best way to set up this type of structure on a WordPress site? it has to have the numbering along the bottom so that you can limit the page to say showing only 20 links (+thumbnails) to articles and then they have to click 2,3 etc. to get to the next page, as done on inc.com.

How would you achieve this using WordPress?

    WordPress can handle this structure very easily. You just set up your top level categories and assign posts to them.

    What you really need here is to configure the theme to display the category landing pages, along with the "related articles" listings with thumbs and post summaries.

    Here's an example > "Gadget" Silo Demo for ClickBump Framework

    For the category landing pages, inc.com is using a splash graphic (and description) to introduce each category. If your theme supports the concept of a "category landing page", this is pretty easy to do also. You would just upload a category specific landing page image into the "Description" editor for the category.

    The buzz word you need to look at is "silo" sites. This would be the part where I plug my services but unfortunately I'm not taking orders. Do a google search, or a forum search here and you'll find tons of information on it.
