Changing a Site from Joomla to Wordpress...

Hi All,

I'm in the process of overhauling my site www.edityour.net. I'm working with a programmer to add some special functionality and I am taking this opportunity to switch from Joomla to Wordpress.

I liked the flexibility of Joomla, but it got to be a little too messy. So we are going to have a wordpress theme customized for our needs and we are going to update the graphics and design of the current site.

Question:

I'm looking for a very customizable and profossional looking wordpress theme that will fit the function of our current site and allow for improvement.

I'm willing to pay.

Any suggestions on where to look or specific themes?

I'm looking for many options for columnns, sidebars, header, footer, etc

That is as vague as it can be be...

Also, "professional" would mean a completely different thing for a site made for a graphic designer, a lawyer or a hobby enthomologist...

Not knowing what kind of specific functionality you are after, it would be very difficult to give you any useful advice.

Get a blank theme and customize it as you want.

I don't think it was as vague as can be. There are many wordpress themes that have very limited customization options.

I included the link to my website so you could see what kind of things I am using with Joomla.

I would think many people have a "go to" template when they are starting a site that they want to further customize. It would probably cut a lot of work off.

I'm looking for a good place to start. "blank template" is not helpful.

I said blank theme (every WP theme is made of many template files, FYI) and it is more useful than you'd think. Just try a search for it...

Everything is as customizable as YOU are able to customize it.

If you are not able to handle HTML/CSS then get some help from professionals.
