HELP! Creating New Website - First Time

Hello Web Designers,

I am getting ready to put up my first website and I do not have any programming skills, thus my wording and terminology may not be accurate.

So lets say I have chosen a host and have a domain(www.thatsme.bat:rolleyes. Now I want to put/install wordpress onto the domain.

My question is regarding the difference in installing Wordpress (WP) onto the root, or into a folder.

What is the difference, benefits, and disadvanteges? What about SEO, does it matter which method I chose?

This will be a business website, and eventually have many pages (ie. blog, about us, etc.)

I will not be using free hosting or WP.

    There is no difference.
    One benefit to having WP installed into a folder is that it keeps your root clean, that's about it.
    Url's, seo, won't make a difference.
    You could have WP installed in a folder called "wordpress" and you could have the url to the site as examplesite.com or as examplesite.com/wordpress.
    All depends on your settings and a couple minor changes.
    Personally I install into a folder since I like my root clean and organized, but that's just a preference.

    You could have thousands of pages, it won't matter, they are not "physical" anyway, they are dynamic, so you won't see those pages on the server root or in the folder.

    Well, basically, wordpress does the job of really making your work easy
    since you are not that good on programming so the most easiest thing
    to do is install a wordpress installation.
    If you don't know how, the wordpress gives you a quick info on how
    to install such software into your hosting. I bet your hosting has some
    options like fantastico deluxe or install wordpress or simple scripts.
    There are a lot of ways to choose whether you want it to be hardcore
    coding or just plain simple CMS. And if you still have a hard time
    I would suggest you do an outsource and hire someone who can do it for you.
