wp-plugin or software for easy editing

Does anyone know if there is a wordpress plugin or piece of software that allows editing of a page by clicking on an element on the page, particularly the homepage. I have found a theme I love, but I want to tweak/change some bits. Since I don't really know much css and the formatting of the style.css is a mess I am having a hard time, I'm hoping there is an easier way to do it?
Or am I going to have to learn css, html and php!!

      Yes I have tried that, even created a child theme. The style.css for the original theme is huge not to mention all the php files that come with it. So I am having trouble finding the elements I want to change. Which is why I was wondering if there is a way to select and edit the elements on page, rather than rewriting code?

      As far as i'm aware this is the easiest way. I'd stay away from too many plugins as they will slow your site down.

      Bad advice ! and a vague question also.

      You didn't specify what you want to edit, the text in any page can be anywhere, it can be in the template, widget or page content, so you need to figure out first what you want to change.

      The Editor ONLY allows you to change the template, and if you really want to change the template, you should do it through FTP and NOT through the wp-admin editor, you might mess up something and you won't have anything then backed up to fix it !

      However, if you want to change a "PAGE" content, then you might try using this plugin for front end editing

    The kind of solution that you are looking for would have to be built into the theme for that to be possible. E.g. Thesis has boxes that you can drag around.

    But if we are talking about relatively small changes you should be able to hack the css without too much hassle. I usually do it by using google chromes inspect function to suss out what I need to change and then add css code that overrides the existing one by using the !important directive.

    You could also checkout www.stylizerapp.com which will give you a very graphical way of tweaking the css, but it does really require a working knowledge of css to be useful.

      Frode D, thanks for letting me know about stylizerapp, I have just been playing with it and it makes it so much easier to see all the different elements on the page, should make editing the css a breeze now that I know what I'm looking for, lol

    No need to learn PHP. But sadly, you need to learn CSS or HTML. Those two I have mentioned is great for building your website design and the way you want it.
