Site not displaying well for smaller screens

    Well first off, you should remove mobile site from your portfolio or signature then, since you are not creating mobile sites and expecting one of us here to help you to create one.

    Every professional/experienced developer knows that one can use media queries to make the websites look good in mobile devices.

    What happens when the viewport size is reduced depends on your settings/css for the different sizes.
    Your sidebar is disappearing because of this line in style.css line 456.

    @media screen and (max-width: 1023px)
    #info-bg, #sidebar, #main-wrap:before {
    display: none;
    Basically you adjust the css for each @media screen/media query size(s) you have in your stylesheet to display what you want and how.
    How you initially structure and layout your site will make a difference in how it reacts (floats, etc...).
    It's not going to be as simple as changing that css above to visible, or me posting a few lines of css.

    Your using the Origin theme from ElegantThemes and it was designed to Not show the sidebar on smaller devices.
    You might want to contact their support and see what they have to say about you modifying that behavior.
