Question on EZ Download Page Protector

Hi,

I currently have an ebook that has the PayPal button link to the download page and use EZ Download Page Protector to protect that downlaod page. I want to change the setup a bit. After the PayPal transaction is completed I want the customer to be taken to a an email capture page and I will then email them the download link. Do I just need to change to current download page? Would EZ Download Page Protector still work in this scenario.

In the email from my autoresponder, I would then suggest that they register their product for free lifetime future updates by simply clicking the confirmation link and also provide the download link. What do you think of this idea?

Thanks.
Ken

I think it is a very good idea to capture their email address.

You should be able to customize your paypal button (in the advanced options tab when you are creating your paypal button) to redirect them to a special page upon successful completion. Then you can have your opt-in page and instructions if you'd like.

If you have an autoresponder like Aweber, you can set up an email parse, which will save them a step of having to opt-in again, and when they pay through paypal, their email address will be added to your autoresponder. Aweber has some great tutorials on how to get that set up easily for you.

In that case, you would probably not need to use EZ Download page protector.

I would 2nd adam's idea about using aweber's email parse so they don't have to type their info again.

It always frustrates me when a company that's using technology to sell a product doesn't use it to it's full potential and makes me type something twice.

I have the same issue with online registration forms - signed up at an affiliate network yesterday - one of the fields didn't validate and it cleared the entire form and made me re-type everything... Unforgivable as this is basic form design etiquette from the first programming book I read over 10 years ago.

If you wanted to do it the way you spoke about you could. The download page would just be the email capture page. That's it. I use EZ Download page protector also and it works great.
