Responsive Theme that serves a different mobile page?

I have been working with a responsive theme that (like most) has some consequences I don't like:

Below 1024px wide (eg iPad) it reverts to a single menu button, even if the menu only has 3 buttons.

If you have a large banner with text on it, it just reduces it down to eg 320px, rather than offering an alternative banner.

It does offer media queries which does give me some control over what displays at different resolutions, but not as detailed as I would like.

I was wondering has anyone come across any alternative themes / plugins that are more than just responsive but offer different content for small screens.

I know I can get what I want with a separate PHP site, but don't want that for this project, and don't want to get into theme code changes.

I quite like this warrior offering, but want to consider alter alternatives. Awaiting feedback from developer.

This is quite close to what I would like (but also have a click to call button and image slider).

The good thing is, as it only has a few menu buttons they are retained on mobile instead of a one button menu.

This is exactly what our mobile wordpress theme does - it allows you to compliment your desktop static or responsive theme with an adaptive (RESS) mobile optimized layer on top of your existing Wordpress desktop theme. You can add mobile friendly touch/swipe gallery/sliders too. As well as all the click to call buttons you want.

You install the theme on your existing site - style it anyway you want, you can also create a secondary menu and content specifically just for your mobile visitors or use the same desktop content and navigation - choice is yours. Once you finish you activate your desktop theme - when desktop or tablet visitors come to your site they see your desktop theme, but when mobile visitors come to your site they see our theme.

You can also use it to build a standalone version on its own WordPress install in m. subdomain, or subfolder or on its own domain and also on WPMU depending on your license type.

Here are a couple of sites using the theme in various ways (view on your phone):

http://www.kineticmediallc.com - uses it as a RESS adaptive mobile layer
http://www.sarahamelia.mobi - uses it as a standalone mobile site
http://m.dfwurethane.com - uses it as a m. subdomain mobile site

We have several versions of it available from a single license to an unlimited developer version - our current promo gives 50% off with this coupon code: gojumpmobi.

As an alternative you could try looking at WPTouch, or at the WSO you suggested - most other themes, plugins, addons etc we see simply don't match our performance, features, validation, value and support and neither fallback to handle feature phones or legacy devices.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
