WP Theme-Visual/Text option gone on Pages/Posts-HELP!!

I have been using my current theme for quite a while and now, all of a sudden, when I go to add a Page or a Post, the Visual/Text option is gone. The only option is to enter HTML (which I know how to do) but the Visual version is where I usually work. The little box with the Bold, Italic, link, etc. is gone and no longer visible.

I can not figure out why this has disappeared from my site.

Any suggestions or does someone know of a warrior who would be willing to give this a try to figure it out?

I am so upset because I love the theme on this site and I really don't want to start over again....

Thanks,

Dianne

If you are referring to the site in your signature, have you updated both wordpress and the theme to the current version?

This is on my website: www.diannehumphries.com.

When you go to add a new post or new page, the WYSIWG (Visual)/Text options in the right hand corner right above where you add text is gone (this is where you can go back and forth to add content as it looks (WYSIWG) or the Text (where you can add HTML).

For some strange reason both options are gone and you can only add HTML now.

I am not sure what is being referred to when you say my signature?

      Thanks.

Also, yes, WP is updated and I don't think there is an update for the theme.

        Don't know how I forgot this: Under User/Your Profile there's a checkbox

        Code:
        Personal Options

Visual Editor Disable the visual editor when writing

A genius would have given you the correct answer the first time.

You aren't good with Filezilla are you and index.html files? I have a landing page that I am having problems uploading to the domain name folder and getting it to work. I had it working at one time but I have changed the date and added a couple of items and now I can't figure out how to get the darn thing to work again.

I changed it in Microsoft FrontPage with no problem. There is a disconnect somewhere between the new file saved on my computer and when I go to load it via Filezilla onto my server (BlueHost). I am not sure if all of the files are in the correct places (within the domain named folder) for it to work correctly (i.e. image folder, etc.)

I can't remember if I should have named it something other than index.html or if that is the original file name needed where all the working parts are contained. I saved it as UPWNYC.html and that didn't seem to work either.

The page looks ok from here. You were right up my alley until you said "FrontPage" and my boat went straight to the bottom. I have never seen frontpage and don't want to, probably never will.

The requested URL /UPWNYC.html was not found on this server.

"The requested URL /UPWNYC.html was not found on this server" --

That was a dummy name. I just used UPWNYC as an example. It was the ".html" that I was referring to. When I load the new file name in the domain folder on the server I am not sure if I am supposed to remove the index.html file (which was the shell file at one time) with the newly named .html file??

When I modify the index.html file and bring it up at the upwdianne.com site, it does not look right so that is why I made an entirely new .html file but that doesn't work either.

When you type the domain in your browser i.e. http://www.upwdianne.com/ the webserver looks for index.html and if that file exists, it will serve that file, so if you want to replace the content of the index.html you can do several different things, one would be to rename the existing index.html to index.back and then upload a new index.html.

Or you could upload a new.html and type http://www.upwdianne.com/new.html for testing purposes and then rename the existing index.html to index.back and then rename new.html to index.html when you are satisfied with the new file

Don't use FP... both Microsoft and every hosting company stopped supporting it. You will have lots of issues down the road. Switch to some simple(r) html editor.

I''ve got the page ready. That is not the problem. FrontPage works like a charm for what I need. Simple HTML for Dummies (me)

I am doing something wrong when I load it up to Bluehost via Filezilla. Again, I think it has to do with the shell landing page that was designed for me. I took the shell and modified it and uploaded it last time. My problem is I can't remember how to upload it correctly so that it works in conjunction with what is in that domain's folder on the server (in other words so that it will sync up with all the images, etc. that are in that particular domain's folder).

      Sort of stuck for now...
