How to eliminate comment spam

Please forgive me if this was posted in the wrong section. My threads sometimes get deleted rather than just moved due to posting in the wrong spots. I assumed this was the best section to post this question in....

Comment spam...I friggin hate it!! I always end up having to disable my comments because I get hundreds of spam comments per day. How do you avoid this from happening?

    Moderate the comments in that way you have the control on which comments should be publish on your site which you feel relevant to share.

    Akismet is by far the most popular anti-spam plugin then put your comment setting so they have to be approved by you before they can get posted on site this will stop 99% of it then only approve ones you want on there - agree with you its a pain but since I did this its no longer a problem

    Akismet is free to download when you go to plugin site just slide price to 0 and it will still give you 100% protection you can also install on multiple sites once you have API key - hope that helps cheers Simon
