WEB DESIGN

Would anyone care to take a look at this site:

and tell me what you think I need to do to straighten it out. It is my site, but I really don't know what I am doing.

I put the link up there and then it changed it to anchor text for some reason. So I took out the http:// , sorry the link is no longer clickable.

Hey schleprock,

Your theme could use some work on the colors throughout the site. I feel very blue when i get to the site (bad joke i know), however consider using some other type of fonts with smaller type font sizes to make it a more presentable site. In the front theres about 3-5 types of different styles all being used in almost one section, its confusing, just use h2 for your main ideas, h3 for your sub ideas, or bold certain important words through the content.

The background is good, but you could tone it done a bit. Consider searching for "blue palettes" to see other colors that accommodate your blue type colors.

You're doing good, I like the layout and the moving header which is awesome, keep up the good work!

Like others have said, it's a bit all over the place, many great themes out there, you could look totally pro for a few dollars, interested that you have Sykes Cottages as affiliate links, have you ever made any money from them.

Can't see how cottages go with drinking? You'd be better linking to pub memorabilia or home brew kits on one of the other affiliate networks.

As others have stated, the best advise is a better template.

I'll suggest a more serious tone as in health care or a news style.

For health care here's a quick 55:

Also your header links are better as footer links (place these in the footer):

Some people may be opposed having all your links displayed on the left hand column. But with your site, these give the visitor a "sitemap" which I think works.

Font-Size (14pt) is just too big. Go smaller for easier reading a a more serious tone.

For emphasizes, drop the "bold / strong" and use font-sizes. More specifically use h3 and h4 header to help visually divide your webpage into sections.

A BIG problem is your left-hand menu is not collapsing when the browser resizes - implement the nav collapsed used in the header menu.
