Hi, does anyone have any recommendations for free image editing software? I saw a list on here the other day of recommended software for web site building but can't find it for the life of me anymore. Thank!

I personally use an older version of IrFanView, which is free (from what I know). That's about all I use since it's lightweight and works great for me.

Great question though - going to keep an eye on this thread.

Sure, if you haven't used anything else. LOL!

Term "image editing" is broad and vague, but if you are look for a strong image editing program that will do a ton of different cool things, of course that is free, then I don't see anything better than Gimp. I have CS5 PS for a while, but was too intimidated, so used Gimp instead. One day I started using PS and couldn't believe the similarities. Now my go-to software if PhotoShop, but will never stop using Gimp either. Go with GIMP and you won't be sorry.

GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program <-- That's a Link. Click it!

      Good luck.

    I use GIMP.
Used Photoshop exclusively forever (I can really go either way).

GIMP has a learning curve especially for those used to Photoshop. It also handles certain things horribly like edge detection when smartwand-selecting and deleting whitespace around an icon for example. This is one of those things that Adobe put serious money into with it's developers and GIMP has yet to match. Besides that, GIMP handles literally all my needs just fine.

PS is still and always will be the best though.

As mind blowing as it sounds, PowerPoint is all the image editor you need.

I've got a training video on exactly how to use it as your image editor, let me know if you would like me to send it your way.

Photoscape is another good free editor that will allow you to do what you are asking.
