          Really!?

You've been here for about a month with 76 posts and you're calling someone else a pc whore?

I'll tell you what has not been helpful and that's your posts in this thread. If you are as condescending to your potential clients as your are here, it's you who will be looking for ideas on getting clients.

If onekeys is happy with someone's help, thanks is in order.

How is it that you are a webpage.expert but can't figure how to get clients? That negates you being an "expert". An expert in web design, knows all facets of it, inside and out. If you don't know the keywords to rank for, you obviously know nothing about keyword research. Which is a very important aspect of web design.

Who is going to hire a "developer" who can't even rank their own website, or understand what it takes to succeed online?

Not trying to down you here, your website is not too bad. However, you need to have the right expectations in this business. You also need a firm understanding of the business as a whole. Perhaps you should look to work for others and learn from those who have more experience than you?

web design expert has nothing to do with how to get clients .

How to get clients = Marketing part .Op mentioned he's web design expert .I have seen most of the web design experts don't know how to market .

The OP didn't say he was a marketer, only a developer.

While I think complete success as a website Designer/Developer should include expertise in Online Marketing, I don't expect every developer to actually get to that point, so as to also be a marketer.

To get to his question, here's how I get clients:

    1. I also do Windows consulting, repair, networking, etc. And those clients often use me for their web work as well.

    2. A lot of my clients do come from word-of-mouth.

    3. I advertise on Craig's List and other online classifieds.

    4. I do local marketing on MOZ Local

    5. You could also check out your local Chamber of Commerce and business/social clubs.

    6. Submit to local directories, like County business directories.

    Hope this helps...

The quickest way to get clients is to use Pay Per Click advertising that way you can rank for any keywords but can be expensive

What I use is: I decide a niche segment (Plumbers, Lawyers, Doctors for whom I want to develop websites) I find them over facebook, Linkedin, Yellow pages, directories, then I find & add them over skype or linkedin and solicit business. I also look at their portfolio deeply and e-mail them a customized email depicting what all I can do for them. It's a lot of work though for getting few leads. But if you setup a process and let a team do it, it will be automated and maybe 2-3 leads everyday. Messge me we can discuss more on this.

I'm pretty slow at this deal: the majority of my present clients have come on board from in-person cold calls. Granted, I mainly service very small and small businesses, but cold calling is excellently effective I've found.

I walk into a place and introduce myself by saying:

Hi. My name is D and I build websites. I was wondering if you have a website already, and if you don't, would you be interested in having one built specifically for you and your business?

From there it evolves to, Yes, I already have a website, which spurs me to ask if they're happy with it, though usually if they answer that straightforward it's a pretty good tell that they are happy with it. I do have a couple of clients who weren't happy with their webmasters, though.

Of course, some aren't interested at all. Or, they're convinced their Facebook page is all they need. Or, their brother is working on a website for them. Or,...

And then there are those who hold varying degrees of interest. I currently have a client/potential client list of 28.

The fastest cash-paying sign-up was a business I walked cold into late one Friday afternoon, we agreed to meet the following Monday, and I walked away from that with 60% down (I had asked for 100%). The oldest potential client I have is one I'm still pretty confident will someday hand me the $$$ to get us started on his project; I check up with him (in person) at least once a week. My first client was/is a Non-Profit I walked into one afternoon and made my pitch to the first person I encountered - who just happened to be the Chairman of the Board (but I did not know that immediately). Although I could tell he wanted what I had to sell, he tried to dissuade me with the old, We don't have the budget for a website right now, trick. I told him, That's alright; I really like what you guys are doing here and I wanna build a website for you. I started working that night on it without expectation of ever making any money from it. My stomach is happy to say I was wrong about that.

So, my answer to How do you Get Clients? is: Just go out and get them. I understand that sounds simple. And you know what? It is.

I totally agree with your suggestion that PPC is fast way to get clients but it's not a long term technique to make money online if you really want to get clients then do SEO techniques that helps to drive target traffic on your website like create company profile on social websites, local business websites, create company portfolio etc.

    1. Building a portfolio is really important.

    2. Social media: have you created a Facebook page and invited your Friends to Like it? This is important for the possibility of them knowing people who might be looking for your services (referrals). Lots of job opportunities being thrown out on Twitter, as well.

    3. Any efforts on SEO and placement?

    4. There are plenty of job boards out there where you can find people looking for developers for certain projects/tasks. It can be a great start and a good way to spend time looking for leads. Google "freelance job boards".

    5. Don't want to self-promote (too much), but for the case of #4 and the amount of time it can take, we are currently developing Generatr.co which will be an automated lead generation service based on your work preferences. Again my apologies for the self-promotion, but it is applicable in this particular case, since looking for job leads takes a whole lot of time and can be very tedious taking into consideration the amount of sources out there.

Hope this helps! It's always hard in the beginning but persistence is the name of the game. One job will turn into two, and so forth.
