Best Platform for Subscription based site

Could anyone give me a recommendation for the best options for a subscription only based site. I know html / css and would like have the ability to modify but would rather work off a framework. Not sure if shopify does this but I rather make my site from scratch and just add in the subscription code/widget if that exists AND be able to modify it.

I am offering a service that can be done digitally, people will sign up and be re billed monthly.

Build your site using WordPress and add a membership plugin, there is at one free one and numerous paid ones.

I also think Wordpress is the best platform you can use for a subscription site. There are many subscription plugins which you can use and customize them based on your needs.
