Theme suggestions for a podcast website

Hello friends! Long-time lurker, finally decided to pull the trigger and sign up for an account.

I'm looking to put together a website that, on the surface, will be home to a weekly podcast series. I'm experienced to the podcasting world, I use Libsyn and understand RSS and all that, so we can skip that part. I've also got a lot of experience with Wordpress and building sites, I'm just looking for some theme suggestions that would help make what I want to do look amazing.

The end goal is I want to monetize the website with merch and affiliate advertising, and I will have a decent traffic flow coming in right off the bat as I work for a profitable website. I also want to build up an archive and eventually make it a premium section of the website. No crazy magazine themes; I want it to be simple, and accessible.

I would greatly appreciate some suggestions and feedback, and any other conversation on the topic, as there are just SO many of them out there and I was overwhelmed tonight trying to make a decision. Thanks!

I would say it probably doesnt matter that much. What is your niche? Look at other sites in the arena and try to be different.

How big is your current blog and can you turn that traffic into listeners?

If you ever need any help with your podcast or getting the editing done I would love to help.

I don't say this to be rude, but kind of like asking, "What car should I buy?".

No clue what look you want it to have, if you want features sections, sidebars, how many, ect, ect. There are just so many themes and new ones every day.

Best suggest is to look through what is out there. Do you want only free, or do you mind paying? Google will help you find free ones. For paid, you could browse something like themeforest.

I've always found it best to look at the competition...

When I want to design a new site, I first draw up my list of keywords that describe the site... what it's about... what keywords I'd pay almost anything to have the website rank 1st in Google for...

Then I simply look at each site that's on the first page of Google for those keywords.

They ... are ... where I want to be. So perhaps their designs are worth at least looking at. Now sometimes I see some of the ugliest websites that rank quite highly in their niche - but usually I'll see at least a few really standout sites - and say to myself: "Now that's the sort of design I like!"

At least, this process works for me...

I'd go look at Appendipity Themes... they've got more than a few themes for podcasters, based on teh Genesis theme for WordPress. I think you'll like them
