Greetings.

I am looking for a way to add a forum to my website. I created one from freeforums.org, but I don't know much about them. Does anyone have any recommendations. I really need someone to help me optimize my site and get the forum up and running (though I would imagine I should post to Warriors for Hire regarding that). However, if anyone has any feedback about freeforum.org or other sites, it would be greatly appreciated.

I prefer self hosted and not 3rd party hosted.

vBulletin is definitely the biggest and most known forum software out there (Warrior Forum runs on it), but it's also not the cheapest.
If your website runs on wordpress, you might want to look at the bbPress plugin. It adds a fully featured forum to your website. Easy to use and easy to setup

  My site is actually through homestead. I suppose I could still use vbulletin or create a wordpress site and use bb press. It is important that it is easy. Thanks for the info.

  There are free ones you should be able to add it from your server such as Simple Machines. If you want a paid version check out vBulletin. Add the forum to your site by putting it in a subfolder.
