    What have you tried? Your question is quite broad. Are you seriously at a point where you have no idea how to begin?

    Namecheap would be a good place to start. Hit their chat support page and ask them to help point you in the right direction. They will likely get you off on the right foot.

    Once you've done that, and have some specific questions, it will be better for us to help you.

      I figured my question would be too broad. I will come back.

      Basically I have spent 3 hours looking up how to get wordpress and set it up but it is always through hostgator, which i did not use as a host. Does that matter?

      EDIT: okay redstickstrategy I will look through it again.

        Most web hosts use "Cpanel". This is the tool that you use to interact with your hosting account's technical details such as installing WordPress into one of your websites.

        Assuming Namecheap uses Cpanel, the setup instructions that you are reading for HostGator will also apply to Namecheap. Best bet though is to hit Namecheap's chat app and let them guide you.

        Get used to using the host's chat app. It can be your "Goto" resource, now and into the future. I still use it often and I've been developing websites for over 15 years!

        I usually receive a response within a few minutes. You can work in the background while you wait. You'll hear an audible tone to alert you when the chat rep is ready for you.

            The easiest way is with Softaculous, which is found within cpanel (some hosts still use the older Fantastico). There are lots of WP install tutorials on YouTube - here's the first one I found:

    You need a host first. I like HostGator, but there a many good ones out there. Then you would download WordPress to your host using your domain name. After you do that, go to themes and find one that you like, or hire someone to design a customer theme for your site. Finally, add content.
