All of my Hostgator Blogs Are Painfully Slow and I'm Losing Business - Help!

HI all,

I have about 5 blogs I'm hosting with Hostgator, all under the same hosting account. Every single one of them is running at a snails pace. They are ridiculously slow. It's painful. They all get F's on Page speed from Google and Yahoo. It's ONLY my Hostgator blogs. I have other blogs hosted elsewhere that are very fast.

I hardly have anything on these blogs. They are basic sales pages, no more than 3 or 4 pages, a couple of pictures, no video or anything. I hardly use any plugins and I've deleted all the plugins I don't use. I've installed and WP Super Cache and did everything they recommended. Nothing has helped! I emailed Hostgator yesterday and have still not heard back from them, which is very frustrating because I am losing business because of this.

My bounce rates are super high and this is why. My pages are sometimes taking 2 minutes to load!

My internet connection is fine and I'm not having a problem with any other sites. Can you please advise? I am losing a lot of business because of this.

Do I really need a VPS or private server? I'm hardly using any space with the plan I'm on now. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

What does HG support say if you ask about it? If you don't get a good answer, read on:

I use hostgator and don't have that problem, you could be on a bad server, they have thousands of them and they are not all the same. I would delete the account after moving all the sites elsewhere, you can try another account at hostgator or use different hosting.

I have 8 sites running with hg, and a bunch of minis which have heavy php/mysql usage. Never had a problem with speed. You can open a chat with tech support, that's what i do when they are slow to respond to a ticket.

Hostgator is a waste of time, I will suggest you to move to Rshosting, they can get your site work faster : https://www.rshosting.com/wordpress-hosting/

Even their cloud VPS can give you good performance they are fast and reliable.

Get onto Hostgator support via chat or phone. If they can't resolve your issue quickly, then simply move your domains to another hosting service.

Test your load time from a few locations and on different days. HG may have periods when they are slow but 2 minutes is crazy. I would go through some site load reports with a fine tooth comb. Unfortunately it can take a while to do that so I can't offer to do it for you for free. Most likely case is that you have references to images or fonts that do not exist (usually because the href is wrong). If this is the case moving won't fix things. Were they always slow?

First check your uptime or server speed for your website. Check through pingdom.Try to google it.

If you lost your business because of your bad host, why don't you move to another webhost provider?

Honestly ? Move to better hosting !

At hostgator you get what you pay for. I know I have been there, and since the move, even rankings went up since the site is super fast. Hostgator sucks.

@MaroshIS, where did you move to?

In my experience, having more then 30 domains on HG, whenever I get into any problem I contact them via Chat, always chat, and the problem is solved during the session 99% of the time.
