Hi Warriors,

I have just had a blog theme done, Kezz off the forum has done
an excellent job but I have to scroll left to right.

My screen resolution is set at 1024 x 768 which i thought was
pretty much standard but I'm not up on that side of things, I'm
just worried that if it's like that for me then it's going to be like
that for other people also.

What resolution do you warriors have your monitors set at?

Here's the first daft of my new blog, http://craigdawber.com

Do you have to scroll left and right?

Let me know your thoughts please.

Craig

I use 1024 x 768 on Google Chrome and I have to scroll - just a teensy tiny little bit but there nonetheless.

Your web site should be designed for 1024x768 resolution.

For some general stats on screen resolutions, see Browser Display Statistics

Yes, I do have to scroll in 1024x768 (I'd recommend the Web Developer plugin if you're using Firefox - it'll let you resize your browser to a number of resolutions). However, the scrolling horizontally (whilst annoying) isn't revealing any content - so at least all of the content fits horizontally into the viewport.

Still, I'd be onto your designer / developer to get that fixed.

    Hi Craig

I think these days it's fairly safe to design for 1024 x 768, a few years ago I would have said 800 x 600 but that's pretty limiting - I'm writing this on a 1600 x 1200 screen so a screen that small is almost invisible on my display.

You should not have the dreaded vertical scroll bar at 1024 x 768 resolution, I would take n7 Studios advice and get that fixed.

Another consideration is the rising popularity of small-format displays such as iPhones, mobile browsers, PDA's and netbooks. If these devices are going to be used by a substantial number of your users you may want to do some JavaScript screen resolution detection and divert them to a page formatted for small displays.

I notice the header graphic is only 1010 pixels. That's good, but it's not taking the full compensation for the vertical scroll bar (on the right). That scroll bar, plus the browser's border on both sides, is 30 pixels. Therefore, 1024 minus 30 equals 994px. This, IMHO, is the widest I'd go to avoid the horizontal scroll bar.

OT: Where did you have that cartoon-ish picture made? I really like it.
