Getting Your Foot Through the Door With Offline Clients
I don't post in this section much, but thought I 'd share a cool little technique which isn't new, but allows you to get your foot through the door of many offline clients.
I originally posted this on my blog, so thought I give you guys the heads up.
Follow These Simple Steps
Step 1
Sign up for Google Alerts and register the keywords of the businesses you want to keep track of, I.e. "mike's pizza house".
Be sure to check that the alert you receive is for your client and not another business with the same name (that could be embarrassing).
Step 2
Sign up and register for a separate Gmail account and set up filters for the different alerts.
Step 3>
Start receiving alerts on the local businesses you're tracking. This could be good information or even a complaint someone has made about them on a forum or group etc.
Step 4
Contact them with the information and explain the services you have to offer when it comes to managing social media, press releases and content creation for their blogs (if they have one).
I regularly receive emails asking how to get new business.
Give this a go and see what sort of response you get.
It's a long term strategy that at least get's you on the clients compass.
Note: If you already have an offline business, you should be doing this for both your client and yourself. You can then react faster than a speeding bullet to any criticism or just to thank a happy client in person. (ahhhhhh, cute).
Hope that helps?
