Are you saying it's useless to go into affiliate marketing without email lists?
Maybe it's just me but I don't don't feel comfortable spamming people with emails.

Maybe I should stick to Adsense... :/

I had the same basic feeling as xoon. I am so anti-spam that I had a hard time getting over the idea of emailing a list. But... if you keep your emails regular (weekly, monthly, whatever you tell them you are going to do), opt-in, easy for them to opt-out... you will not have that spamming feeling (is there a song in that phrase ) You will simply be providing them with what they signed up for.

It's not pointless but you have to define what BUSINESS MODEL you are in.

If your deal is clickbank products in the typical affiliate business model, most likely you want to build a customer list, simply because without it you can hardly call it a business model.

Too often people coming into internet marketing, forget about basic business principals. In any small business offline you need a customer base, if you have them on a list much better, but think about your average restaurant, develop, over time, a customer base, (your regulars) smart restaurant owners develop a list, but if not you have the location where people come back and become your regulars.

On the virtual world you don't have a location where people come back and build an emotional connection to the place. So the list becomes you number one asset into building that relationship and that emotional connection. Even you you just have a blog and is your main objective through adsense, a list becomes the best way to say "Hey Guys we Have Something New" come back to our store.

If you are doing CPA you don't need a list. But in the traditional clickbank affiliate model if you don't build a list you are at the mercy of Bigg Momma Google and all the search engines, and many other factors for that matter, without a customer base you have no business because you have no asset.

Now regarding spamming people, that depends on what type of products you are promoting, if you are promoting garbage and you know it's garbage than yeah, you are spamming them and quite frankly I hope you don't succeed.

Nothing personal against you, but if you are just trying to trick people into giving you their money knowing that you are not providing anything of value, that's not cool, and frankly that is what is wrong with our industry.

If on the other hand you are providing value to people and helping them along their own journey, than keep it up, we need more people like you, in that case you are not spamming at all, you are taking your time to add to people's lives and you should be monetarily and emotionally rewarded for it.

Either way 3 months is nothing, remember that you are building a business.

Good for you. Honestly, the money you get from spamming people will never really make you happy because your mind won't be at ease. Stick to the honest marketing.

Help me make money

When I tell people that I do Internet marketing part time, they ask if it involves a lot of work? I tell that IM is like anything else, if you want to be good at it you must learn all the fundamentals and apply what you've learned in the internet. Once you've learned the basics, move on to a harder task or project. I consider IM similar to learning a new musical instrument. If you've never played a guitar before pick one up and start jamming. If you can play like Jimi Hendrix for the very first time then you have a god given talent and you should join a band. But my point is, everyone SUCK at the very beginning and improve overtime with practice. Don't give up man, you're already 3 months in.

What type of SEO are you doing for your sites....are you doing enough backlinking, unique drip fed content, on page stuff is good, etc?

3 months, no commissions and you suck?!

You're not doing bad, having a learning curve is 100% normal, so don't get discouraged. I'm sure that you can do better than me and start making consistent money in much less than 2 years.

For me, what made a huge difference and allowed me to go from spending $xxx a month to making $xxx a month was structuring my IM business as a real business. I decided on the model that I wanted work with, chose a traffic source and took action. I decided that I would stop jumping from one system to another everyday, so I sticked to one thing and after a few (not many) failures I started making money with a very simple concept.

So I think that you should do the same. Decide on what types of offers you want to promote, what niche(s) you will work on and choose a specific traffic source to use. Then, take action, keep focused and let your own experiences (not ebooks or videos) teach you the main lessons that you must learn to build a real business. Don't take me wrong, videos and reports can be extremely helpful, but I think that any full-time affiliate would agree with me when I say that there are lessons that only experience can teach us.

I'm in the same boat as you, xoon. I'm feeling like quite the failure. However, I try to keep a line I read on this forum fresh in my mind:

"The biggest mistake I think noobies make is that they quit too early."

Basically, it was someone stating that they felt that new IM'ers quit when they are extremely close to success. It keeps me going and helps me to remember that I really do enjoy the work that goes into IM, we all just hate failure. I wish I had written down who stated that quote.

Please let me help you - it takes time and dedication especially if you start out as a total newbie. If you are having trouble with getting traffic or sign ups, research the say top 2 methods - I can give you recommendations here but it sounds as though you re too fed up & you can still get them that way. Just by reading this I can tell your really lacking a strategy and plan, I think you need to develop this before proceeding

you should not discourage yourself. just stick into what are you doing. you do not suck because it is just the beginning not the beginning of ending. you should work hard more and more and someday success will knock your door.

do not go for spamming. just stick into your honesty , if you earning at a low rate, it is good ;you are earing in an honest way. i think little extra work on your keyword research and pulling some more traffic in your site can remove your frustration.

I also suck and discouraged in CPA marketing once for soooooo many months, because I do it the wrong way and I'm a complete idiot out there. I bought a lot of CPA WSO's which really didn't work for me until......I just keep digging and digging till I finally figured it out which gave me great results. Hahaha!

Don't give up and stick to your positive attitude man! Working hard is not yet good enough, but try to be smart and creative. At least you know the strategies that may not work for you, do something new! Internet was really huge!
