Is Paid Traffic Really That Hard?

Hi Warriors,

Tell me what do you think about this question, why people are always saying to stay away from paid traffic and to stick with free ones?

Why people are always saying that you will lose your money if you try paid traffic etc etc....??

After reading many stuff about Paid traffic I have noticed why people are struggling with Paid traffic or why they lose money, correct me if I'm wrong :

- They do not do any demographic research: If you want to promote a product or a CPA offer, you have to know who you are talking to, who you are targeting, if you do not do that, you will waste money.

- They do not track their campaigns: When you see a guy saying that he's not doing good with PPC you will often see that he doesnt track his data, he doesnt track which KW does convert and which one does not, he just throws away a campaign and hope for the best, then he cries and says that PPC sucks and that it's just a waste of time.

- They do not test ad copy: People who start with PPC (or any other paid traffic) just launch maybe 1 or 2 ads and that's it, they do not go further.

- They give up too quickly: Ok I can understand if you have missed one of the step above, then there is a chance that all your money is burned, so it's normal to quit...

I'm not a PPC guy, actually I have never made money with PPC but this is something I think about, because I think it can brings a lot amount of money, well more than free traffic, but I always see people saying to not jump on PPC etc...but I think that if you do not missed one of the step below, you reduce your chance to burn all your money and even if you do not make profit you can be break even or a a bit in loss, but it's always better than losing everything.

So in regards of what I have said please share your opinion on this topic.

Regards.

There is money to be made for smart people. If you are just starting out on PPC you can expect some heavy front end loss before you get things straight. If you have the funding, and learn from your mistakes you should be able to make some good profits.

This is what I'm saying, of course if you just start you cant expect ot be successful at the first time, but I'm saying that you can reduce losses if you track and manage your ads....

I don't tell people to saty away from paid advertising, because I agree with you.

Paid advertising isn't rocket science. IMO, it's just as hard as free advertising, so what people have to do is decide whether they want to spend time or money to learn IM.

I think that most people getting started with IM are not in a good financial situation, so, in this case, paid advertising could be very frustrating to them. However, there are also guys who want to build a solid online business and have money to invest, and I can't see why paid advertising wouldn't be a good start for them.

So, IMO, it depends on the person, both free and paid advertising work, so it's all about deciding between which one we want to spend, money or time.

paid traffic is expensive in long run..you should focus on strategies which gives free traffic like seo, social bookmarking etc.

It amazes me the amount of people who will blunder into PPC without bothering to educate themselves first - before losing $100, $200, $500 or more on PPC - take time to invest in a decent ad words course - check the WSO section here you can probably pick a good one up for under $20

lol, simple: because they couldn't make it work!

I make 5 figures a month SOLELY via PPC such as Adwords, Yahoo and BING. But you need good offers like I promote ... none of these silly zip submits or **** berry rebills. That wont make you rich if you doing premium PPC.

Any questions don't hesitate to ask,

Here is why I always advise people to stick with free traffic to start.

First, when you are completely new, it simply doesn't make sense to go into paid traffic and lose money. If you don't know what an affiliate link is, don't know how to track, don't know how to properly split test, and you try and build some PPC campaigns in Adwords you will get eaten alive most likely.

If you can't build a landing page, you will likely lose every penny you "invest" into the Google Fund!!!

So when people are completely new and learning the very basics, why learn them on paid traffic. Sure, once you have the basics down, then its a matter of investing time or money as to whether PPC or Free methods are what you should pursue.

Secondly, it stinks but the truth is that a majority of Internet Marketers will probably quit when things get hard or they start losing money. Many people enter this game with not a lot of money, so throwing your last $200 into a PPC campaign and losing it all can be very disheartening. This is why many people quit, because they go into paid traffic right away, and lose money like most people do right away and then quit.

So my argument is just purely based on the trends that I see. There is a lot of potential online, with free and especially with paid traffic, but knowing the way most people are who enter this IM world, I personally think its better that they start with free traffic.

With that said, I am a HUGE fan of paid traffic, my biggest campaigns have come from paid traffic, and much of my daily efforts revolve around paid traffic.

So don't think I'm a hater of paid traffic...I love it!

My point is that for the vast majority of people, I don't think it makes sense to delve into it right away.

NOW, if you have a budget to work with, have tough skin, have the tenacity and persistence to work hard and make it work, then by all means PAID TRAFFIC MAY VERY WELL BE YOUR BEST BET.

Do you get where I am coming from?

I mean it's easy for me and many other people on this forum to say, we make $X doing this and that, but that's not necessarily the best way to proceed as a newbie. It's like Jeff Gordon telling somebody who just get's into a racecar for the first time to do floor it around the track, double clutch, and powerslide coming out of the third corner. Sure that's what Jeff Gordon should do but a beginner driver should first learn how to steer and should probably ride go-karts before jumping into a Nascar.

Thank you guys for your insights! I totally agree with your answers...so to resume, if you are just starting, try first to understand how the business work, try to get some few dollars a day to get your feet wet, this is of course if you have a lot of time and no or small budget to work with, but if you have some budget do not hesitate to invest and to learn paid traffic, because this is where you'll make the most!

But do not forget, both traffic source work!

    Good Luck!

The reality is paid traffic is where the money is .

But, everybody should know that, especially newbies, if you don't know what you are doing , your marketing budget would be drained quickly and badly .

So , the catch is , if you really want to get the most with paid traffic sources make sure that you completely the traffic source or channel you want to use .
I also want to point out that , if you are completely new , start with free traffic sources , until you get some basic understanding about the critical components of marketing.

    Hope it helps.

Yep that's my position. Paid traffic is fine to go into, but make sure you have your battle gear on and a plan and know the fundamentals of CPA AND that traffic source.

I just hate seeing people get burned and then quitting!!

At the end of the day, I truly believe that one can make a six figure income with ANY traffic source at all if they work hard. Even crappy traffic like Twitter, I truly believe if you work hard enough at it you can use Twitter traffic exclusively to build a six figure business.

So the debate about free traffic and paid traffic will drag on but the truth is that it doesn't matter. Those who work really hard, work smart, mitigate risks, and keep learning, should do just fine in this business, no matter what path or direction they pursue.

      May we all prosper!

There is really no such thing as free traffic. You're going to pay one way or another. Your time is not cheap. I love paid traffic. I use a lot of PPV for a few high converting CPA offers. I suppose you could get an emailer and harvester but you still pay for those tools, but after that the emails are free...sort of...after you pay for your hosting and domains. Well, there you have it, it's never free, only paid and paid works.
