POF - Can we create a profitable campaign?

Ok, so having tried several times at running a profitable campaign on POF I have decided that a group effort could prove more fruitful

We need to answer a few questions, then I will actually run the campaign with my own money and share the results.. and along the way hopefully we can learn the steps to creating something great.

Ok, so:

Q1. We need to find an offer - I am currently only a member of peerfly so it will need to be available there.

I have also read that the best offers to run are dating offers... so here they are:

      I would go with Mature Dating (awesome), Matchmaker, or Richmen.

      These are all tried and true offers on POF.

        yeah, i just test mature dating uk last week, and it turned out to be a good converter on pof, but this week this offer is done. so i changed to dating agency, however it seems not to be so good as mature dating, any insights on promoting dating agency uk? thanks in advance!

    Ok lets make it a little easier then - we will need an "angle" on which to base our ad copy so I am going to short list the following:

    1. RichMen.com

    2. Black Flirt Match

    3. Mature Dating 50+

    4. Christian Dating

    5. Amor - Latin Dating

    So now please vote for which offer we should contiune with - My vote goes to Amor as POF have opened up new International Traffic and we could target countries such as Brazil.

    Once we have the offer selected we will select our demographic

    Do you tried with facebook PPC ? For me dating offers converting well with facebook. Use International offers for cheap clicks.

    Well Amor is a new offer to PeerFly - im not sure how long it has been available on other networks - but Im hoping not long so the offer hasnt been saturated.

    So now we need an angle in order for us to target our demographics....

    Looking at www.google.com/adplanner I have put amore.com in for the US and have the following stats:

    Female Visitors - 53%
    Age 25-34 - 45%
    Income $25,000-$49,999 - 71%
    Some collage - 92%

    Some of the angles we could use:

    1. "Let him teach you spanish and fall in love"
    2. "French the Language of love? Try Spanish"
    3. "Let him teach you salsa and fall in love"

    I dont know what other targeting options we could include.... and I would love to hear your opinions on different angles we could use.

    Also when it comes to targeting - I have read that we should basically target very loosely to start and then when we see what is working we should then drill down

      I would create 2 campaigns targeting females, one with age 25-33, the other 34-40. Don't target income or education or anything like that. You won't get enough traffic especially if you're targeting international.

        Actually if he wants to use Amordating he'd have to do more like 1 for 30-34 & 1 for 35-40, the offer is 30+. And since its a US only offer, he won't have to worry with traffic volume. Leave income/education out for now.

        Ideal thing at this point would be that Adam you upload the campaign, let it run 24h then come back with how it performed.

      I'd say you're on the right track. Your doing good research and have the right idea with the offer that you chose.

      Just a tip about writing ad copy: Use descriptive language that forms vivid images in the mind. I like the approach of falling in love, learning a new language or dance, but try it with language like this:

      "Let your heart race to the sensual beat of salsa music, your Latin lover leading your every step! Find him at Amor.com..."

      Also, I've had dating ads rejected because it wasn't obvious enough that they weren't part of POF, so keep that in mind.

    Just read this with interest. I have never used POF personally but I thought it was the biggest / best free dating site out there. Why would members on a global free dating site be interested in going off via adverts to paid sites that are often unheard of?

    I am really surprised you would get any worthwhile conversion rates there in relation to other paid dating sites

      Are you serious? POF has very high average CTR's. Much higher than FB. People are already in the dating mindset. So getting them to signup to another site for free (they try to get them to paid memberships later) isn't that much of a stretch.

    Adam - thanks for starting this thread :-)

    Genuinely useful info and ideas with simply explained, easy to implement stuff, along with some great advice from others too.

    I've been testing CPA offers on POF for around three weeks now - plenty of clicks, but no conversions. I appreciate that initially, it's all about the testing, but it can get a little discouraging when offers don't convert like you hope they're going to.

    My campaigns have been with an Asian dating offer, which has seen some interest, but no conversions. I realized that initially, I put too many too many variables into the mix, eg; drinking habits, income, so I took them out and got a lot more clicks, but still no conversions.

    Am going to rethink - will watch this thread with interest and post any worthwhile findings/results here.

      Hi Sherrie,

      If you've got the traffic coming in, put other offers into the mix. Split test the offer between networks and other offers in the same niche. You'll find one that works better than the others.
