Spectacular fail on first CPA offer. Please help.

Hi Everyone,

I'm very excited to get my first real CPA attempt working, but I can't seem to make everything come together.

I am working on a "Letters from Santa" campaign.

POF would not allow the the popups on the main offer page, so I made my what I thought was a beautiful landing page:
Get a Letter from Santa for your Child!

My ads target parents with kids at the right age, and I've gotten about 200 people to my landing page, of which only 5 went on to the "Real" offer page, and no one has purchased.


That makes me think my landing page is the weak link.

Can anyone offer some insight into what I am doing wrong?

I'm new to this and obviously missing something.

All I want for Christmas is my very first profitable campaign!

    Your landing page looks fine. Some of the graphics are a bit dated, but all of your potential consumers certainly aren't going to be graphics design students either. In fact, they are likely the exact opposite.

    Have you checked the metrics over at POF? What is your click through ratio from ad link to landing page? We have seen mixed results from POF and I can certainly tell you that you should not give up. It looks as though you are working very hard to get that first conversion and you will certainly get there.

      I just turned off all of my POF ads with a ctr of less than .15 so hopefully more of my financial resources will be channeled through higher performing ads.

      I'm just stumped as to why so few are going from my lander to the offer. I thought that part was a no-brainer!

      Anomalous gave me some nice ideas about changing up the buttons which I will try tonight.

      By the way, I was trying facebook ads too, but after running for 3 days with bids on the high end of their suggestions I have only gotten between 15 - 40 *impressions* on each ad. Today they seemed to have stopped serving them all together for some reason. If they don't want my business, I'll go somewhere else.

      Can you suggest another (non-google) paid traffic source that might be a good fit for my Santa Letters campaign?

    I think you landing page is fairly cluttered. If you are only getting 5 out of 200 it needs work.

    I would make cleaner and simpler. Easier to read fonts ect.

    Also make sure you make your ad copy very direct for an offer like this.

    I don't know, but POF seems to be very had to get conversions from. I get more conversions from 7Search than POF.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Glad you liked my suggestion. It seems to have disappeared from this thread.

    The suggestion was to start split testing features of the landing page, starting with the button text.

    Wish I knew why my posts keep disappearing...

    Um your landing page doesn't click through. I get a 404 not found message. Maybe that's your problem? It doesn't link through to the offer.

    Holy Smokes! Thanks for letting me know the offer page is down, scrofford!

    Everything looked fine when I tested over the last couple days, but If the offer pages has been having intermittent problems that could explain a lot.

    I've sent an email to my account rep and suspended my ads until thats sorted out.

    Anomalous, When I originally posted my message, something weird was happening with the the forum and it looked like my message never got posted. So I tried again. And again!

    Then all of them showed up at once.

    Your original reply somehow ended up in one of those other ones that I have since asked be deleted.

    Simple = good. POF = challenging.

    I'll definitely keep all this in mind.

    It's all quite exciting. I just wish I could see the light at the end of the tunnel!

      It all seems to be back up and ok now, but if it's intermittently going down then yeah that could be a real problem!

        Alrighty, everyone.

        Experienced CPA marketers will probably laugh, but I got burned pretty well on my letters to Santa camaign but Santa gave me a valuable lesson for Christmas.

        Turns out that in addition to the offer page going down periodically, there is a problem with the order page too.

        I actually liked the Santa Letter, so decided to send one to my nephew to test to make sure that everything was ok.

        After entering all relevant info, there is a "preview" button to make sure that all the personal details are entered correctly, and when you click it, the entire order form got erased.

        I was miffed, and my impression of the site instantly changed from "Charming" to "These people don't know what the heck they are doing.". Suddenly I understand why I'm not getting conversions.

        Their order processing stinks!

        Santa's lesson: Don't just look at the landing page of an offer when checking things out... drill a little deeper and make sure the actual order process is clean, easy and WORKS!

    Another thing to add, you should rotate different landing pages to see if you can increase that CTR.
