when should i scale up the campaign

Hey warriors,

i wanted to know when should i scale up my campaign. once i test the ads i figure that the one makes the most money i should increase the amount of cash for that ADs. How much should i increase by day or should i add money to get more clicks all together. is there a click through rate that i need to see to increase?

i understand after testing , whats next?

adcalc this tool is handy to put various scenarios.

if this is network's offer you should ask for increase assuming you driving some conversions.

after testing you should cut the unconverting traffic sources , increase budget overall for the converting ads.

ad new LP/ad copies and so on to tweak your CTR , split test with your current profitable ones, try to always drive a percentage of your overall traffic to new variations to improve your overall stats. if you have a new winner , make a new variation and so on.

Nobody can give you a specific metric to go by when looking at increasing your budget for a campaign.

      But here's a few guidelines:

If you send several hundred clicks via the specific combo (keyword, ads, landing page, etc) and it's converting profitably for you, then ramp it up.

If you send several hundred clicks like above and it doesn't convert for a specific combo, then turn it off.

The key here is you need to let enough data collect for every combination.

Some people use a rule of thumb of sending 2-3x the payout of the offer to any specific combo to see if it's worth it.

Let's say you are bidding on 3 keywords and have 2 different ads you are using and have 2 different landing pages you are testing. That is 3x2x2 = 12 combinations. Now let's say you are paying $0.50 per click and the offer pays $25 on a conversion.

12 combinations x $25 CPA x Ruleof2 = $600. So that's your testing budget initially, ideally spread evenly across all 12 combinations. At $0.50/click that's 1200 clicks you will get.

Suppose you do that and discover 8 combinations converted really poorly (i.e. you lost money even though you got conversions). Turn them off.

The other 4 you would then have to make a judgement call on depending on how they performed. If you find one combo converts really well and you are making a solid profit, then start increasing it GRADUALLY. Don't crank up your budget by 500% overnight, you might find the campaign suddenly takes a nosedive. So go from say $30/day to $40/day, if it's still profitable go up to $60/day. Take little steps.

Everyone does this differently, it also depends on the traffic source. I'll start by upping my budget and still keeping am eye on the campaign and I'll slowly up it more and more

Often your epc may decrease as your budget goes up so you still need to keep a close eye on things IMO for the first while

Once the ad is profitable, I'll start scaling up pretty quickly. Not need to wait.

But I am always testing new variation ect, of ads and landing.

Also like Chris pointed out remember to manage you budget and cash flow. Not managing cash flow is one of the easiest ways to drive you career into the ground.

Good luck, let us know how it goes!
