It’s a most common idea marketers do promote offers through banner or PPV or PPVR.

But, one thing to consider is that, banner has to be professional. Try to spend some bucks on it. No fiverr, but use 20dollarbanners.com to get your banner done professionally. If you have better option, just pick it.

Banners ads ie Media Buying is a good way to promote CPA offers.
Research is very important inorder to match your CPA offer to the correct demographics using tools like Quantcast, Alexa, SimilarWeb, etc

I highly suggest you start off by learning on self serve platforms like SiteScout because you will have complete control over your campaign.
Once you have data, optimize and then start scaling it to other traffic sources

    Media buying is still alive.
The trick is achieving optimum CTR which takes testing.

I've had banner campaigns achieve 2.1% CTR and 350% ROI.

    Ummm... yes!

Great way to drive insane amounts of traffic. Just don't expect high CTRs from the onset. You have to test like crazy; ie: rotate lots of image/ad copy... and that's standard. You also have to do proper research to find out where you can reach your target audience.

    Good luck!
