- ARTICLES |
1) Different Modes Of Payment
Some merchants offer different modes of payment on their sales page. On the surface, this seems pretty routine. But then you discover that if the customer pays by a different payment method, you won't get credited with the sale. Check the sales page for any of these 'payment leaks' that can cost you a lot of money. It can make the difference between a winning campaign and a losing one.
2) 'Here Now, Gone Tomorrow' Cookies
The majority of affiliate programs use cookies to track affiliate sales. When a customer clicks on your affiliate link, a cookie is immediately written on to his computer, so if he buys, you earn a commission. However, not all cookies last for the same period. Some last for 30 days, others may only last for 30 minutes. You'd want to promote affiliate programs that have long lasting cookies, because many customers put off buying until later.
3) The Minicourse Trick
Some merchants allow the visitor to sign up for a minicourse on their sales page. When a prospect signs up to the minicourse, he gets sent periodic emails with the merchant's own affiliate link in them. If the prospect clicks on this link, it will override YOUR affiliate link, costing you your well deserved commission.
These tricks are being used out there today, so watch your backs and be aware of them! There is still no easier business to start than affiliate marketing, and by being alert to these sneaky tricks, you will be ahead of the game and promote worthy affiliate programs.
