Google Adding Ads to AI?

Recently in googles latest marketing event, they said they will be adding ads to AI queries in the near future.

What do you guys think about this?

I knew they would eventually do this but i think ai should not choose the companies that have ads but the best company or information for said query.

why do you think this will be different than the traditional ads placement? before you had them on top of your searches as promoted. now you get them into your responses.

    nothing new here.

    I think that:

    Google makes its money from

    ADVERTISEMENTS

You will probably see ads related to your recent
searches that have been paid for by people who
    run ads.

If you don't like it, use another search engine.

Moaning on how Google conducts its business
is futile since they don't care what people think.

They just want you to click on those ads.

  • Yes, Google is now embedding ads directly within its AI Overviews, which shifts some organic traffic but provides us with highly targeted visibility.

As a marketer running Google Ads for makers laminate brand, I'm doubling down on Performance Max campaigns to ensure our products appear right inside the AI's response when someone searches for "best kitchen laminates."

"the best company" is usually just the company that worked the most on their SEO and presence, so its effectively the same thing just streamlined

It was inevitable, but putting ad spend over organic merit will definitely hurt user trust in AI search results.

I do not like the idea of the search engine becoming fully AI integrated but we will see how this plays out

  • Google was always going to monetize AI search sooner or later. The real challenge is making sure sponsored results don't reduce the quality and trust of AI answers. Users still want the most relevant information, not just the highest bidder.

It's kind of expected, since ads are Google's main business. I don't think ads in AI responses are a problem by themselves, but the concern is what you said, results should still be based on relevance and quality, not who pays more. If it stays clearly separated from the actual answer, it might be fine. But if ads start influencing recommendations, that's where it becomes an issue.
