Dual Content

Hi

My tour site is such that I have a standard template which I use, with a lot of the same content copy which is applicable for all the different tours.

How is this looked upon by Google, Bing etc..

    You can use a canonical tag for the same content page.

    Canonicals work if the entire page is essentially the same. Seems like in this case, it isn't.

    We don't worry so much about small blocks of text repeating. There is no such thing as a duplicate content penalty and never has been. In a worst-case scenario, the duplicate block of one page may be indexed and ranked and not the other pages(s). That's really not so bad as long as something on your site is ranking, is it?

    The key is to have other compelling, helpful, unique content on pages that outweigh the duplicate parts.

      Thank you for this. I would say my page is about 90% different with just one portion really the same. I shall not bother then..

    Google and serps in general don't like duplicate content. I suggest spinning it and creating different content.

      This is a total myth. They just may not index or rank a page well that is nothing but duplicate content because they already have that exact content indexed. Having the same small block of text repeated on many pages will not hurt your site at all. Many super successful websites that rank very well do it for things like shipping policies.
