Email List / Services for Getting Started?

Hi All,

I am a newcomer to the forum and have been seeking input about getting started with affiliate marketing.

Do folks have any recommendations or favorites when it comes to email services for getting started with affiliate marketing?

I am working on creating a funnel in wordpress right now to promote a ClickBank product and I am starting from scratch (zero people on the list).

I had started getting set up with ConvertKit because I loved that it was free up until having 1000 subscribers and that it was okay to list their company address for Can SPAM compliance so that I wouldn't have to get my own PO box.

However...about a week or two after getting started, I started getting emails/questionnaires asking me about how I planned to use ConvertKit and asking me to submit sample emails to show what my emails will look like etc. I understand why they want this but at the same time it is time consuming to jump through these hoops and I am eager to just get this off the ground to see if it will work.

Seeking any advice or recommendations

Thanks all!

Did you search the email section here for advice on autoresponders? You want 'free' but don't want to have to tell the service WHAT you will be doing? You need to choose an autoresponder you plan to stay with - or you'll waste time down the line trying to move your list to a new AR.

Here is what you are missing: If you choose the wrong tools, if you don't fully understand how to use the tools you have, if you rush to 'doing' before 'knowing how best to do it'...."it" is far more likely NOT to work well. Every result you get depends on what you put into the effort.

Probably not advice you wanted - but....

Hi Kay, thanks for your reply -- I am thinking along the same lines actually and I appreciate your advice. The message that I received from ConvertKit actually prompted me to start this investigation to find out if there might not be some tools out there that were better suited to the task at hand.

In my case -- I would love to *get* to a place where I am running an authority site and where I have lots of organic traffic.

However -- I am not there yet, and I am curious to test out ideas and it feels important to me to just *create* a funnel.

I mean...I am going through that process right now and I have learned a ton haha!

Reading responses here is helping me out so much just to give me vocabulary and to frame the way I'm thinking about all of this, and so thank you for putting in the time to reply to my posts.

      Thank you.

You gonna need to use ESP tools, I strongly recommend you to look at MailGun and MailChimp, it will help you with all email marketing issues

There are a ton of choices for email marketing, Mailchimp is to strict for a lot of affiliate marketers, I wouldn't use them. You can get plans for >1000 people on your list for $15/month here, that's who I use and recommend. I have some tutorial videos on my YT channel as well on how to set everything up.

Personally I use the Divi Theme to Make my landing pages and funnels in WordPress. Then follow up with an autoresponder series.

You could try Get Response or aweber they are the two most popular from my understanding. I use Get Response. Get Response if free for first month then charges after that.

    MailChimp

Do not use Mail Chimp if you plan to have any affiliate sales - MC is not affiliate-friendly.

I use ConvertKit and love it...

But I gotta say that when I was just starting with email marketing I used GetResponse and helped me understand the basics of an autoresponder, and it is cheaper.

All those messages ConvertKit is sending you are to find out if you are a spammer who just created a free account to spam, so they are protecting their IPs and reputation.

Another vital tool you'll need for email marketing is a click tracker, my preference is ClickMagick but there are many options in the market.
