Any advice for creating an affiliate program for startup?

Hi, I'm brand new to the affiliate marketing world and was hoping for some insight into creating an affiliate program that would be exciting for affiliates. Sorry if I'm using terms incorrectly...

Background - a free Chrome/Safari/etc. extension (and possible mobile app) for users tosave and/or earn money, similar to Swagbucks. Average user may generate ~$6 revenue per year for the company.

Would an affiliate be interested in the following "referral program"?

- Affiliate receives 30% of lifetime revenue generated by each user they bring in
- Affiliate receives an additional 10% of lifetime revenue generated by each user THEIR RECRUITED USERS brings in.

So if an affiliate recruits 500 users for the free extension, and those users bring in a further 1,000 users, the affiliate will receive ~$900 (500*$6*30%) + $600 (1,000*$6*10%) = $1,500 for the year.

We'd also be willing to pay influencers, etc. cash upfront for ongoing posts to obtain users with possibly some kind of offset to reduce cash payments based on income generated via their referrals.

I'm very open to suggestions on this. I'm worried the income generated per user will make this whole concept unappealing to a marketer, but the numbers get very big very fast if the right users are brought in. I also thought it may be appealing to advertise a free app that's genuinely free (not freemium) not spammy or doing shady stuff? Just a normal, by-the-book app.

  • Hey welcome to the affiliate world!

There's plenty of offers for under $10 so I wouldnt worry about the price, just worry about ensuring the sales volume is there to make up for the lack in price. Lifetime value is great but people still need to be buying it in the first place!

When promoting this offer be sure to talk about your internal success metrics so affiliates know that its possible.

Get your offer up on ClickBank/Warrior+/JVZoo/MaxBounty. You'll see how they allow you to advertise your offer which might help guide your layout. Then you can checkout similar offers on there to get some inspiration.

    Hope this helps!

  • I see this post has already 4 weeks.
I would like to ask someone who works with affiliates. Does it worth going to b2b niche with some affiliate program?
As it has much fewer cusomers usually, but the cost is higher.

    Thank you,
