Bye, Bye to Buy Buy, Baby!

Bye, Bye to Buy Buy, Baby!
I realized something this evening: the more Internet Marketing experience I get, the more income I earn and the less money I spend. I kind of like how that is going.
It seems to me that new marketers are keen on learning and following the experienced leaders and that makes them a target for every money-making scheme and every marketing service that is suggested to them. I know. I’ve been there.
I was so incredibly enthusiastic in the beginning that my marketing philosophy became, “If someone with experience says it’s a good idea, I’ll buy it!” I spent a lot of money.
I was willing to “invest” in my business if it would accelerate my progress. Why spend years trying to build my traffic, my subscribers and my presence on the Internet when I can pay someone to achieve those goals for me in a matter months, or weeks, or days! That was a no-brainer to me.
Well, as you might well imagine, none of those promises came true. I paid for thousands of guaranteed website visitors who never bought a thing. I paid for hundreds of subscribers who never clicked a link or bought a thing. I paid for directory listings and submissions to search engines that never produced more than a trickle of visitors who never bought a thing.
On top of paying for those services, I purchased a lot of ebooks, marketing guides and other recommended resources. At least with those kinds of things, I got the value of the info, insight and training that they provided. Also, the more Internet-savvy I became, the better I got at finding free sources for the same kinds of information
The good thing about all of this buying, buying, buying, was that I got some valuable experience. LOL, you know that old saying: When a person with experience meets a person with money, the person with money leaves with experience and the person with experience leaves with money. In retrospect, that scenario became all too familiar for me!
On the plus side, I did purchase a few services and joined a few membership sites that were well worth the cost. And some of the things that I learned, I applied to my Internet Marketing business and I am confident that in some cases, I truly did accelerate my progress, so all that “investment” wasn’t a total loss.
It’s just that knowing what I now know, I would not have so willingly spent so much money on so many marketing plans, resources and services.
My recommendation to online marketing newcomers is to take your time, be cautious about what you buy in the name of “investing” in your business, and learn as much as you can about the business before you pay for things you don’t even know if you need.
I have learned that all that spending is not necessary, and even today, I am finding ways to reduce my marketing expenses even further, while at the same time seeing my online sales increase.
If you are cautious and manage your developing business well, you, too, will be able to say “Bye, bye to buy buy,” Baby!
