Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die, Everybody wants to make money online but nobody wants to try.

Sounds crazy huh? I just came up with that, but it really seems to play out on the forum and discussion boards all around the net.

THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION

The biggest misconception is that somehow the internet will just start pumping out cash just because someone put up a site or wrote an article. I use to think that when I first started and boy, oh boy did I get a wake-up call.

It's understandable that when you're under a lot of pressure from your job and bills, it's only natural to want something to stop the pain. When you're breaking your neck trying to make the shift from offline to online, it seems like it just won't happen.

Then all of sudden when you think that maybe you should do something else, you get a glimmer of hope a glimpse of light. A small commission, a response to an email or blog post or just a good ranking on google and the fire comes back again.

It's crazy how twisted and out of joint you get as you ride the internet marketing rollercoaster, but in the end it will all be worth it. When you're home with your family while everyone else around you is complaining about their monday morning commute, you'll probably be smiling with a devilish grin because you beat the system.

Ha, ha. That day is coming, but outside of the blood and sweat you're pouring into your business, there is the issue of fear.

DEALING WITH FEAR

What are people gonna think of me if I try to make xyz product? What if they think my posts on the forum are stupid? I'm just a noobie, what do I know? and on and on.

Let me relate a bit of insight to you I once heard at a sales meeting I attended many years ago. The guy on stage said something quite profound I think you'll appreciate. He said:

"When I was in my twenties, I didn't care what anybody thought about me, but as I began to approach my early thirties I found myself virtually obsessed with what other people might be thinking about me, however, it wasn't until I reached my sixties that I finally realized... nobody was thinking about me."

The internet can be a lonely place when you're trying to fit in, but if you just get down to business and are willing to laugh at yourself every now and then when you make a mistake or get tripped up somewhere, instantly you'll find that there are a whole lot of people out there just like you.

The only thing to fear is, fear itself. If you just got here or you've been here for awhile, you have every right to succeed as the next guy. So get to it. Your success is waiting.
