keepin' it real

Hi everyone.
If you want to be a success in MLM you need to be a Leader. Period. That means you have to put yourself "out there" and let people know who you are and what you are doing. If you are using the "traditional" MLM marketing methods, or today's method of marketing online, the result is the same. If you are not comfortable with yourself, who you are, what you are doing, and why, you will fail. Its kind of like how animals can sense things about you even if you try to hide your true nature or intention. I don't know if its pheromones or auras or spiritual connections or what, and ultimately it doesn't matter.
I had a realization a few weeks ago that in my marketing and connecting with prospects I wasn't keeping it real enough. I was censoring myself and who I was - kind of trying to prevent a more sanitized version of myself. Then I realize that that is just madness.
If you don't like who I am, how I life my life, my level of experience, or the color of my hair, then we are not going to establish a long term business relationship. That's reality. Yes, I could try to "front" - present myself as being someone who I'm not. That might work in the short term, but its not going to take too long for the "real" me to be revealed. At that point I have complicated my relationship with you if I "fronted" in the first place. Not only have I made myself out to be someone who I'm not, but I've also made a liar out of myself and put my integrity into question. Life is way too short for that.
I sometimes joke that the reason I'm so honest is because I have a lousy memory. I joke, but in a way its true. If I were a different (dishonest) person with a great memory then I could tell all kinds of tales about myself and never get caught. I'd rather be who I am and sleep well at night.
This I think is one of the keys to attraction marketing. People who are new at MLM or internet marketing get nervous about keepin' it real and they end up frontin' and that is no good. Just be who you are!
I was talking about this with one of my team members earlier in the week. I put it in terms of Lifestyle claims. See, not everyone working online right now is making $10K per month. You may be brand new in internet marketing or network marketing but this doesn't mean you can't be a Leader!
Just keep it real. Tell your own story. There is a reason why you chose the MLM company you chose. There is a reason why you are working online. There is a reason why you market the way that you do. Whatever those reasons are, understand them, accept them, and keep it real.
Be who you are.
