The Case of the Ugly Website
Posted 22nd August 2016 at 11:59 AM by Mark-Dickenson
So if you have been following me for any length of
time you'll know that I am a big fan of Ugly.
One of my favorite TV shows of all-time is a
show called Justified.
It is about Hillbilly crime in Kentucky...and the writing is phenomenal.
The main villain has teeth so bright that when he smiles,
he damn near blinds you.
In other words, Ugly...just like my websites...
But they still make money.
Heck, my last several websites where built with an
html editor(GASP!)
as I hate wordpress...and I suck at graphics.
And just the other day I saw a six figure site in the fitness industry that made my sites
look like Picasso.
So where am I going with all of this?
Too many people think they need to make a super pretty site with killer graphics and
goofy widgets and gadgets everywhere...
And that prevents them from getting started.
To further illustrate my point, here is a great article
in Entrepreneur magazine
about what happens when a highly successful
website owner
simplified his site(aka made it Ugly).
