The popularity of mobile devices, with mobile phones on the top of the list has enabled people from all over the world to easily connect with one another. Each day billions of text messages are sent all around the globe and messages spread like wild fire through the mobile device medium.

This trend also opens up other areas of opportunity and among the entities that benefit from it are small, medium and large businesses. Advertisers are now seeing the huge opportunity in sending out marketing massage to mobile phones and similar devices.

Businesses are now tapping on the basic type of mobile marketing, SMS messaging. It’s common these days to receive text messages from businesses offering discounts and freebies when a mobile phone owner visit their store and present the SMS message.

If you are also interested to do mobile marketing for your business here are some helpful tips on how to effectively write your marketing messages easily.

1. Introduce yourself and your company.

Assuming that you are sending SMS messages to opt-in subscribers (those who left their number on your shop or texted you to subscribe to the updates in your store), the first thing to do is to add a few characters introducing you or your shop.

Example: Antonio’s Bistro – Put your message here.

2. Get straight to the point.

Right after the intro, add the main message. If it’s a call to action just put it in there.
Example: Antonio’s Bistro – 10th anniversary Special! Present this text and Get 10% Discount on all orders!

The primary reason why you need to go direct to the point is because most mobile phones can only handle 160 characters per message. So it’s ideal to keep your message short and direct.

3. Provide a way to unsubscribe.

Provide a way for your subscribers to unsubscribe to the updates. If you lock them in and do not provide a way to unsubscribe you’ll irritate some of them and give you bad publicity in return.

The above are 3 easy steps that will allow you to effectively craft your mobile marketing SMS messages and at the same time maintain a good image. If you are really into mobile marketing, I hope you use this or something similar when sending out messages.
