Forget Google!

Well, as many people have already stated, the August 2012 Google PageRank Update has finished. If you couldn't already tell by all of the weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth on the forums here!
I see all kinds of posts on SEO, and how to get to the first page of Google. These are all great, and I agree that we need to know how to do this. But what I don't understand is WHY?
Why are you optimizing for Google? There are literally thousands of ways to learn how to make money blogging online and a lot of these tips include SEO techniques.
I am not dissin' SEO. We need it. When you set up your site, you should use the Google XML Sitemaps, do your meta descriptions and meta keywords,...all that good stuff!
But here is a new idea...stop optimizing for Google! Google is not going to be the one to hit the Buy Now button on your site, Google is not going to be the one that subscribes to your list. So why are you optimizing for it?
We have forgotten what it is to just blog. To have something important to say that is filled with great information! We have forgotten because we are seeing dollar signs when we build our sites!
Optimize for [I]people[/I, not Google. Do your on-site SEO. But when it comes down to actually posting a blog or an update on your site, forget SEO. Forget about the keywords, the tags, the usual stuff that you would normally do to get noticed by this giant search engine.
More than once, I have gotten posts that I have written to the first page of Google without one keyword, without optimizing the blog any...because it was great content!
Remember that your reader is the most important thing to your site...keep them coming back with great content!
