Maybe it IS time to take a break

Posted 10th March 2010 at 03:06 PM by webwriter (Newbie's IM journey)

As diligent and hardworking as I've been in recent weeks, I've had to deal with time wasters and it's no fun. Here they are:

- Playing with cats.
- Listening to talk radio (especially in the morning)
- Eating in-between meals
- Surfing the web
- Reading books on other topics
- Daydreaming

I'm also a procrastinator who can readily find excuses for not doing something, such as prolonging a lunch break.

To remedy this problem,...

Moving on to the next stop after overcoming an obstacle - writing articles

Posted 10th March 2010 at 08:41 AM by webwriter (Newbie's IM journey)

This week sometime, I'm going to have my landing page installed. I can finally say that I am pleased that a big obstacle has been overcome. And it's all because I decided to hire an expert. Why I didn't do this much earlier when I first read about the idea in Pat O'Brian's book, Your Portable Empire (John Wiley & Sons, 2002) is still a mystery to me.

Believing in the power of being focused

Posted 8th March 2010 at 09:42 AM by webwriter (Newbie's IM journey)

Yesterday, I spent some time reading the interesting posts on WF regarding squeeze pages and landing pages. As a result, I learned quite a bit and would like to thank every one of those posters here.

Also have to admit that I was sorely tempted to try a few of the practical suggestions out for myself. I'm always interested in seeing better results with my IM efforts.

But right now, I've put those so-called "experiments" on hold. Why? Because I'm determined to...

Landing pages

Posted 6th March 2010 at 05:26 PM by webwriter (Newbie's IM journey)

At this point, my research on creating landing pagss is just about complete.

Downloading templates of such pages is out of the question for me. It's downright risky. You can get an error page or possibly a blank. And suppose the design can't be deleted, then what? There's no way of knowing whether you'll get what you're expecting or not, or how to fix it if you know little or nothing about html. So until I get more experience, I'll go with a simpler way.

Ok, one of those...
